HABITAT GOES GREEN!

Most of us have inkjet printers at home or work. Next time you have an empty cartridge, PLEASE DON’T THROW IT AWAY! Just put it in a Ziploc bag or the original cartridge box and call Kelly Hutchison at 573-372-6384, or e-mail her at keekee812@earthlink.net and she will be glad to get you involved! Help reduce pollution (cartridges do not decompose for 1,000 years!); Save energy (empty ones can be remanufactured and reused); No cost to you (no burden, either!). Cartridges with a print head qualify for payment, which includes Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Compaq, Canon, Dell, Brother, Apple and Epson. If you cannot tell the difference, keep it anyway!

HELP WANTED:

We have an immediate need for an individual with a pickup truck, van, and/or trailer willing to pick up donated items from private homes and businesses one day per week. Please contact Les Nockunas at (573) 346-4787 or Lon Harlow at (573) 346-3236 for more information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Most people know that Habitat needs workers to build its homes. They may not realize that there are many more opportunities to help behind the scenes. Volunteers are needed to help raise money for purchasing building materials and supplies; to contact local businesses to solicit donations of materials; to interview and select partner families; to provide training for families regarding home maintenance, property taxes and insurance; to help in spreading the word about Habitat’s mission throughout the community; and to maintain contact with local churches and service organizations to solicit all types of support. This affiliate has no paid staff.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

If you or someone you know is interested in helping in the Habitat building process or would like to serve on any of the committees, please contact the committee chair located on the Affiliate Contacts page. If you have questions about Habitat or would like to arrange for someone to visit with you or make a presentation to your civic organization, please contact Sheryl Cheves at (573) 873-0436 jscheves@sbcglobal.net or Marvin Johnson at (573) 346-1941 marvinj31@aol.com.
