BACKGROUND

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Lake of the Ozarks Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, is to work in partnership with low income families, donors and volunteers to provide decent, affordable shelter for those living at poverty levels and in sub-standard housing.

ABOUT US:

Habitat builds and/or rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of volunteer labor and the homeowners (partner families), and donations of money and materials. The homes are sold to partner families at no profit and are financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes. The cost of an average house is approximately $80,000. We also tithe ten percent of all money raised for local houses to the Interfaith Habitat Program in Ireland, and because housing costs in third world countries are so low, we have built as many houses internationally as we have nationally.

PARTNER FAMILIES:

Families in need of decent shelter due to current unsatisfactory housing situations should apply to the Lake of the Ozarks Habitat for Humanity affiliate for consideration. The Family Selection Committee will review applications and choose homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the no-interest loan.
