Since becoming an affiliate in 1997, we have worked to help low-income families and those living in sub-standard housing achieve their dream of home ownership. It is a success story in Camden County of volunteer workers partnering with donors; business and corporate sponsors; churches; and social and community organizations to construct safe, comfortable, affordable homes for low-income families. Habitat for Humanity is not a give-away program. Selected families agree to provide "sweat equity" helping in the construction of their home. Upon completion of the home and their "sweat equity" hours, the family enters into a non-interest mortgage with us for a specified number of years.
The cost of an average house in Camden County is approximately $80,000. We tithe ten percent of all money raised for local houses to the Interfaith Habitat Program in Madagascar and, because housing costs in third world countries are so low, we have provided funding for more houses internationally than we have locally.
Volunteer Opportunities
We currently need people to help at the ReStore working the floor and helping with donation pickups.
Volunteer partners provide the bulk of the work when building a house. Some partner on their own and others partner as members of a church group, social club, business and corporate organization or youth ministry. College and high school students are part of the labor partner family.
Partner volunteers can be members of the board and serve on committees. Presently we need a corporate sponsor chair person. This person would contact businesses and organizations to solicit materials and financial help for the building of the homes.
Donations are another way of partnering with Habitat. You can contribute cash, become a corporate or business sponsor, donate items to the ReStore, or donate property for construction.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call the office and leave a message at 573-317-3962 or call Chris Reth at 573-317-1843.

You must attend one of the seminars to apply for the next home! Advance registration is requested but not required. Please contact Debbie Bunkowski at 573-434-1428 or 573-207-0300, or leave a message at the Habitat office at 573-317-3962.
To qualify, you must show the ability to pay a monthly mortgage payment of approximately $420 plus utilities, and have a willingness to participate as a partner with Habitat by investing sweat equity in the building of the house. You must live in Camden County, show a need for adequate housing, and have a gross annual income for you and your family that falls between the figures below:
| Family Size | Gross Annual Income |
|---|---|
| 1 | $12,340 - $20,550 |
